Iain Bryant

Iain Bryant is an innovator and entrepreneur and joint-managing partner at Future by Design in Cape Town. He is a qualified chartered accountant with a particular interest in applying design thinking and human centred design to business challenges and is an Alumni of the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI), School of Design Thinking, Potsdam, a partner of Stanford University’s d.school.

With experience in innovation management, design thinking, business operations, financial services, corporate finance and strategy, he advises clients how to innovate and grow by creating new products, services and business models.

He headed up Innovation for Harmony Gold, and now uses his experience in corporate innovation and human centred design to inspire innovation in organisations from the inside by affecting the way their people think. He has developed a profile as a thought leader in this sphere.

He was one of the founder members and presenters of the first SA Innovation Summit and ran a course on “Innovation in Lean Times” for the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS), where he has been a guest lecturer for GIBS on Innovation.

He has managed human centred design and design thinking projects across Southern and East Africa, and successfully rolled out innovative new products and services for various client sectors.

He was instrumental in the design of Future by Design’s HCD toolkit adapted for creating successful products in a more third world-centric setting.
